Nam-walled City

Nam-walled City 1
Acrylic, Poster on Woodboard
45x100cm

This is the first piece of the series "Nam-walled City". Nam-walled City was once a landmark on the Kowloon Peninsula. However the city was too packed and crime rate was exceptionally high in the walled city. Also the planning and structure of the city was poor and the buildings were deteriorating, threatening residents’ life. Thus the government had to demolish the whole city and reconstruct the area. The city is a symbol of the urban decay in Hong Kong and in my paintings I incorporate details and colours that would make the compositions interesting and convey the urban decay of the city.
Nam-walled City 2
65x120cm
Acrylic, Poster, Chinese ink on Canvas

This is the second piece of the series "Nam-walled City". The painting consists of 3 different views of a building, which was in the Nam-walled City before it was demolished. I incorporated Chinese Ink for the dripping effect and to create an atmosphere that resembles a Chinese traditional ink painting.
